An organization comprises of representatives from various national standards organizations, which is responsible for setting of international standard.
Founded in 1947, and headquarterd in Geneva, Switzerland, ISO promotes proprietary, industrial and commercial standards, worldwide.

American Petroleum Institute (API)
Commonly referred to as API, the American Petroleum Institute is the largest U.S. trade association for the oil and natural gas industry.
Over the years, API published thousands of publications which includes standards, in effort to assist users improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of their operations, as well as ensuring compliance.
